Study identifying dramatic loss in cloud cover biodiversity

April 29, 2021

In a study published in Nature Ecology & Evolution research associate Dirk Karger, two expert botanists and Walter Jetz teamed up to show that despite significant protection efforts, cloud forests continue to decrease in size and lose biodiversity. Tropical cloud forests exist in 60 countries, account for only ca. 0.4% of all land, yet are home to as many as 15% of the world’s known species.
