Lab senior thesis student Gawain Antell wins Yale William R. Belknap prize
May 11, 2016

The award recognizes excellence in natural history studies of undergraduates in their senior year. Gawain wrote a thesis on the niche partitioning of East African hornbills. Based on two field seasons in different parts of East Africa, Gawain’s work combined behavioral observations with careful statistical and spatial analysis for an impressively thorough assessment of how two closely related species of hornbills use a savannah landscape.
